New Ultrasonic Nozzle Uses Less Material to Coat Stents
October 28, 2010 – 6:34 pm
A 180-kHz ultrasonic nozzle developed by Sono-Tek Corp. enables medtech manufacturers to use less material to coat stents than is possible with previous generations. The nozzle produces a median drop size of 13 µm (with water) and is compatible with the company’s MediCoat DES 1000 and MediCoat II anti-restinosis stent coating systems.
The nozzle allows less material to be used to apply very thin coatings onto complex geometries. Described as the world’s only 180-kHz ultrasonic nozzle, it is suitable for precision coating catheters, guidewires, balloons, diagnostic devices, blood collection tubes and orthopaedic implants in addition to stents.
